Is permanent makeup for me?

Yes! Permanent makeup is virtually for anyone who is tired of reapplying makeup and sacrificing precious time and money. Even if you are allergic to different cosmetics, permanent makeup has been known to help women with that issue. To sum it all up- it helps tremendously with the hustle and bustle of applying everyday makeup and can also give you a very natural appearance if you don't apply makeup on a daily basis. Permanent makeup is for women with oily skin, active women, women who have a hard time seeing, have shaking hands, women that don't know how to apply their makeup properly, busy women, etc.

What are the benefits of permanent makeup?

No more smudging! Can't find a makeup that won't smudge because of oily skin or because of the humidity? Permanent makeup won't smudge and will leave you worry free! You will save a lot of time and money so you can focus on the more important things in life. Permanent cosmetics can also look very natural and help to enhance and accent your beauty. There are many benefits of permanent makeup, come and see for yourself!

Can permanent makeup be retouched too often?

Yes! If you want to keep having your permanent makeup retouched too often you can create scar tissue over the area. The skin needs time to rest and it would be best to wait at least a year or two to retouch again.

Is it safe & sanitary?

Yes and yes! Everything at Beauty Ink is single use and then disposed of. The needles are all individually wrapped and everything is changed for each client. Everything is disposable and we follow OSHA regulations.

Can I drive after?

yes! even if you do an eyeliner procedure, your eyes will not be swollen shut. Ice will be applied to the procedural area post procedure to get some of the swelling down before you leave.

Does it hurt?

At Beauty Ink we strive to discover and use the best topical anesthetic possible. With that said, everyone's body is different and may experience different levels of discomfort. Depending on your body and how it reacts to the anesthetic, when rubbed on to the procedural area, we let it sit for about 30-45 minutes and most women will feel only vibration and pressure while having the procedure done. If more than that is felt, then more anesthetic can be applied to the area throughout the procedure to re-numb.

How long does permanent makeup last & is it really permanent?

Typically with the pigments used, permanent makeup will last anywhere from 1-3 years depending on skin type, body resistance, products used over the area, and how active a person is. Permanent makeup is considered permanent because it is tattooed into the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, with any tattoo or colorant(pigment) in general, fading can and often does occur, requiring future maintenance and touch ups.

Can my previous permanent makeup be corrected or fixed?

There are no promises with "New Retouches" that it can be completely fixed but usually it can be made better. I don't know if there is scar tissue in the area from the previous artist which can make it harder for new ink to saturate into the skin. I don't have information on what kind of ink that artist used, if they used tattoo ink then that ink is more permanent and usually discolored and anything that I do is only covering the previous permanent makeup and I'm not taking it away, therefore, as my pigments fade over time, you still will see the previous ink/color from before. I also have to work with the shaping that is already there and it's best not to completely stray too far away from the previous shaping. In certain cases if the shaping is really uneven or the color is really dark, it is best to either let the previous permanent makeup fade or have it removed by laser tattoo treatment.

How do I choose the shape & color?

On the day of the procedure, we will work together as a team to carefully draw on what you want with conventional makeup. The drawing on process usually takes the longest due to precise measurements and finding the perfect design for you! We do respect your opinion with this process, and we also hope that you take our professional opinion into consideration. Any color can be customized to match your skin tone and hair. This process is all about teamwork!

How do I choose between powdered brows or feathered brows?

Simple, if you have a lot of brow hair, dry skin, and small pores, you are a good candidate for brow feathering. If you don't have a lot of brow hair, oily or combination skin, and bigger pores, it's usually best to do powdered brows which can also look really natural and soft. Brow feathering done on oily skin will blur out the strokes and it will end up looking splotchy or like powdered brows. If you don't have a lot of brow hair and want to do the brow feathering, usually the hairstrokes will look like an obvious tattoo and it will look more fake and not like your real hair.

What if I want to change my permanent makeup in the future?

With the pigments that's no problem! Faces always change overtime, our hair color change, and styles always change. Because the pigments are more semi-permanent you always have the option in the future to change the shape and the color of any permanent makeup procedure you do.

What is the healing time & can I go back to work immediately after?

The healing time is about a week long or a little longer depending on your body. The swelling should go down within about 2-3 days, then the area will start to flake on about the 3rd-4th day- the flaking will not come off evenly and you will have some dark and light spots throughout the healing process. Do not pick peel or scratch area- just let it come off on it's own. It will take about 5-7 days for all the flaking to come off. After the flaking is done the color may appear really light but after about 4 weeks when the skin is fully healed then the color will slightly darken. Try not to get the area soaking wet, no touching, no makeup, no direct sunlight, and no heavy exercising for the first 5 days.

Yes, you may go back to work immediately after the procedure, this is just a personal preference. Immediately after, the permanent makeup will appear darker and slightly swollen depending on your body's sensitivity.

How has permanent makeup changed over the years?

Permanent makeup has changed tremendously throughout the years! The machines are more advanced, the procedures are easier to tolerate, and the anesthetics are stronger. The overall knowledge of permanent makeup is vast and the inks have changed too. Before, most permanent makeup salons would use only traditional tattoo ink and it would stain the skin and can last forever leaving you with something that you may not want in the future. The color of the traditional tattoo ink usually changes over time leaving some women will blue, green, purple, red, or pink permanent makeup. That's why Beauty Ink prefers to use micropigments.

Can I bring my child(ren)?

Here at Beauty Ink we love kids but children are not allowed in the procedure room due to distractions and safety.

What kind of ink do you use?

There are two different kinds of ink in the industry:

Traditional tattoo ink: which lasts forever, but most likely will fade over time, but leave residual color that may change color and the ink can spread or fan outside of the area over time.

Micropigment: which usually lasts 1-3 years, shouldn't change color over time, and won't spread or fan out.

pigment is recommended for brows, eyeliner, and lips, but there is an exception for eyeliner- tattoo ink is fine for the liner if it's natural and thin because a thin liner will most likely not change shape over time. The color may change color, but that's when you would need a retouch to achieve the color you started with. when choosing which ink to use for eyeliner, ask yourself, what's more important, the color changing or the longevity of the liner?

What will I look like after the procedure?

Each procedure depends on how sensitive your body and skin is.

Eyebrows: slightly swollen, dark, thick, and may appear uneven because of the swelling(after the anesthetic wears off you may experience a slight sunburn feeling- nothing too excessive.

Eyeliner: slightly more swollen than the brows- dark, thick and may appear uneven(sunburn feeling and may feel a bit tender if you blink hard.)

Lips: Swollen, dark coloration, and may look uneven. Lips will feel tender for up to 3 days.
